KARACHI: Sindh Provincial Minister of Information Science and Technology Dr. Sikandar Ali Shoro said that Sindh government would provide assistance to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in creating data bank and other IT related services.
He said that currently his ministry is working on e-governance with health, education, law enforcement agencies, police, judiciary, NADRA, district government and other departments of government. He said that Arfa Karim Information Technology city has been started in Malir City Karachi for the promotion and development of IT where the first IT University and Incubation center will also be created in the near future.
The minister said that his ministry is developing geographical information system which will contain the information related to city maps, roads, plots, population density and others indicators.
On the occasion Acting President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Arshad Farooq said that the efficient utilisation of information technology will create paper less environments and develop strong linkages among the organisations for information sharing.
He said that the World Economic Forum ranked Pakistan 97th among 143 nations in its Global Information Technology Assessment Report 2015 while this ranking was 111th in 2014. Now there are 30 million internet users in Pakistan which has ranked Pakistan in top countries in the high growth of internet penetrating countries (16%).
