Stamped ballot papers recovered from garbage in Peshawar

Peshawar: A large number of stamped ballot papers used in the General Elections were recovered from the garbage dump in the city’s Kachar Kundi area on Friday.
Most of the papers were reportedly stamped with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) symbol ‘Lion’.
A local news channel reported last night that these ballot papers were recovered from PK-72 constituency.
The authenticity of recovered ballot papers is doubtful as it had no official stamp at their back which showed that they were not issued by polling officials on election day.
Awami National Party’s (ANP) candidate Khushdil Khan had won from the same constituency and was declared the winner after a recount on Thursday.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shah Farman stood runner-up with a margin of 187 votes.

Last week, many of stamped ballot papers were recovered from a garbage dump in the Karachi’s Qayum Abad area.
