PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that he was offered Rs10 billion for keeping silence on the Panama case.
He said that ‘Go Nawaz go’ movement would kick start from Friday. Imran congratulated Younis Khan on becoming the first Pakistani cricketer to make 10,000 runs in Test cricket.
“Sports is very necessary in life as it teaches you not only how to win but to also accept your defeat,” Imran said. “Had I not been involved in sports, I would not have been standing here.” He urged the audience to work hard to achieve higher ambitions.
“I was sent out of the team after the first test match that I played,I came back after three years wishing to become the best player in the country,” he said.
Imran maintained that he worked harder and then became the best player in the world. “I would not have been able to build Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital had I not learnt in cricket what hard work is.”
Imran Khan advised young players to keep on working hard to reach the national and international level.“Nobody can achieve good results without hard work,”
Imran Khan also appreciated the provincial government for holding the biggest ever games wherein 7000 male and female players were taking part.
KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Education Minister Mohammad Atif Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, Secretary Sports Tariq Khan and players from all the seven regions including Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat, Hazara and host Peshawar were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister and sports minister lauded the efforts of the Directorate of Sports for holding the events first at district level wherein 400 male and female players from 25 districts took part and now more than 3000 players are taking part from seven regions.
Imran said his endeavours also helped him make Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf 21 years ago. Imran said his party had key role in national politics, and vowed to continue his struggle for establishing Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
In his message on 21st Yaum-e-Tasees (Foundation Day) of the PTI, he said that PTI not only created awareness about politics but also gave boost to nation against corruption of leaders. The movement that started 21 years ago had become a strong voice of Pakistan, Khan added.
Imran said the decision of Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan would provide opportunities to establish justice and purify governance system in the country. He congratulated everybody associated with the PTI at all levels,
